Works continue to the new roof on the Water Tower, what good timing, building a new roof in these weather conditions! Certainly the on site operatives cant believe what they are having to do, maybe Anglian Water should consider their budgets more carefully.
At least something is being done to extend the life of the Tower, even if the external appearance still gives cause for concern.
Water Tower
Objective: Paint and possibly list the Water Tower (discussions previously held with Anglian Water over this failed).

Work continues on the roof of the Tower, this is considered to be essential maintenance work in order to protect the quality of the water, which Anglian Water have always maintained is their first priority. They continue to assure us that other priorities are regularly reviewed, including our repeated request for them to properly maintain and paint the exterior. However, internal work will always take precendence over external work, so it is unlikely that the external appearance will change any time soon. We continue to monitor the situation.

After extensive correspondence with Anglian Water, we seem no nearer achieving our objective, although some maintenance work was recently carried out which was, we understand, to re-coat the inside, so that water quality can be improved and Anglian Water therefore better able to continue to supply the surrounding areas. We also believe the roof was cleaned and re-treated. AW are therefore not prepared to consider further maintenance to the outside at the present time, although we note that safety measures have been put in place to protect against the risk of falling concrete, but AW have stated that they do not believe there is any risk beyond their boundary. We shall continue to monitor the situation. If you have an interest in this group, or have anything to add, please email to parishplan@mursley.net.
