Established over 40 years ago when a group of volunteers from the village got together to purchase the sports field so that the community could have access to a viable facility able to encourage sport and recreation in the village.

The committee continues to be made up of willing volunteers who are elected annually at its AGM in March, the current officers of the committee are:

Chairman:        Jim Crews
Treasurer:        Ellie Baume
Secretary:        Helen Broom

The above are all supported by the remainder of the committee Tim Parker, Yelena Attwell, Ian Attwell, Simon Oldham, Lyndon Broom and Roger Gurnett. The Football club are also represented by 2 members from their committee. We also rely heavily on the support of other volunteers who help as and when required.

The role of the sports association is primarily to ensure the good management of the sports field as well as to organise and run village events throughout the year. Over the last few years we have seen massive investment in the facility including the new children’s play area, Multi Use Games Area (MUGA) and the levelling of the football pitch. (All of which have been made possible by the securing of charitable donations by the committee and its supporters.

The sports field is there for all in the village to use and we hope everyone makes full use of it. The MUGA will be primarily used for Tennis from the 1st weekend of April until the last weekend in September but can also be used for football or netball.
