Mursley Sports Association

"Helping the children and the residents of Mursley find their place on our playgrounds"

What we do?

We present a range of unique opportunities for the children and residents of Mursley to connect with the concept of playing sport for fun and to enhance their opportunities to participate and learn with and from others.

We aim to promote quality sports and fitness for children & residents through special events and activities by raising public awareness, regular networking with residents, partners and potential fundraisers.

Starting in 1968, the MSA is run by a voluntary committee.

Why support us?

Organised sport is very important for our children

Most children would rather play for a losing team than sit on the bench of a winning team. They just want to have fun. Children involved in organised sports receive much needed exercise. It enhances their self esteem and increases confidence. Organised sport teaches teamwork, leadership and social skills.

In today’s world, all of these benefits will only enhance a child’s life. Have you ever watched a child kick their first ball? Saw their face when they made that first catch?

How parents can help us

Simply by encouraging children to participate. Parents can also participate themselves either by joining in the sporting activities or volunteering to support our key fundraising events (see below).

You can support us by giving your time, through personal sponsorship or by supporting us via business sponsorship.

Hiring our Facilities

Mursley Community Sports Pavilion has several areas available for hire.

As well as an award winning Football pitch complete with changing rooms and all weather training facilities, there is also our community area complete with meeting & kitchen facilities (capacity approx 35 seated).

Both these areas have dedicated toilet facilities allowing them to be hired exclusively on their own, or as one large area.

Many groups and individuals already hire these areas for a variety of activities ranging from adult to junior football matches and training sessions to netball and tennis practice and games.

We also hold our own Village Coronation Sports event every year which attracts well in excess of a 60 children.

The children also enjoy five-a-side football in the evenings and Kwik Cricket on Sunday mornings.

The flexibility of these areas makes this venue a well designed facility that the whole community can enjoy. Free parking and the thoughtful planting and trees that surround the facility make it an attractive offer for all sorts of activities and gatherings.

A broad programme for the local community to enjoy is under development including; school sports groups, fitness classes, children’s’ parties, small meetings and much more.

Our Facilities

The Community Room

This room measures 7m by 6m. It is furnished with a series of 8 square tables which seat 32 people and can be arranged in various formations to suit different functions. These tables can be folded and stored in a cupboard in the room or against the walls.

There are 30 comfortable, banqueting style, stackable chairs available and also 4 stackable benches for use by children’s groups. The benches can also be used in theatre style for smaller groups.

The room also has a mobile whiteboard, and a flipchart can be made available upon request. A projector can be hired. Markers and paper for the flipchart can also be made available by prior arrangement.

A kitchen measures 3m x 3m is available to all hirers. It has separate access and contains a large fridge/freezer, an urn, a bench-top cooker, microwave and washing machine. Crockery and cutlery are not available. Due to the nature of the equipment in the kitchen, children are not allowed in the kitchen at any time.

There are separate male, female and disabled toilets and we also have a baby changing facility. These are all included in the hire of the Community room.

The entire building has under-floor heating, which is extremely efficient. It is set to maintain a temperature of 21C all the times. On no account should nails or other objects be driven into the floor - the heating pipes are embedded in the floor.

Car park

Mursley Sports Association Community Pavilion has a car park for 20 cars at the rear of the building. Spaces are identified for disabled drivers.

Other features

The Community Pavilion is flanked by a children’s play area on one side and a multi-usage games area on the other making it an ideal location for organising different events.

The approaches to the Community area have been recently landscaped making an attractive setting for users.
