Village Hall

Located in the heart of Mursley Village, just off Main Street, Mursley Village Hall provides excellent facilities for clubs, children’s parties, theatre, dances, evening functions, wedding receptions and much more.


Mursley Village Hall has a large main hall that can comfortably seat 120 people at tables, or more if chairs are laid out in rows. Rectangular and round tables are both available, allowing flexible layouts for dinner dances, wedding receptions, jumble sales and other events. Table cloths, cutlery and crockery can all be hired at additional cost.

The kitchen area in the hall is well equipped with a large cooker, refrigerators, two sinks and ample preparation space. The kitchen has blinds that can  be raised to provide good access for serving food.

There is a small committee room that can be booked separately, capable of seating up to about 20 people.

When required, there is a bar serving area adjacent to the kitchen that opens into the corridor next to the main hall and also into the committee room.

The stage in the main hall can be used for shows and musical events.

The Mursley Players Annual Show

Full of colour, spectacle, cheesy jokes, unbelievable singing and dancing, and truly outrageous performances. The performances are always a sell out success so watch out for the adverts and book your ticket early for this highlight of the thespian year!

Too many bargains to mention and refreshments as well! Look for the queues lining up down Main Street.

Clubs at the hall

Mursley Village Hall is the base for a number of thriving and successful clubs:

  • Mursley Table Tennis club meets every Tuesday morning and Thursday evening
  • Mursley Bridge club play every Tuesday afternoon
  • There is an Argentine Tango dance class on Wednesday evening
  • The Women’s Institute meet once a month in the hall

Village Hall Hire Rates

Terms and Conditions of Hire

 (if the hirer is in any doubt as to the meaning of the following, the Hall representative named at 2(a) in the hiring agreement should be consulted immediately)

For the purposes of these conditions, the HIRER shall mean an individual hirer or, where the hirer is an organisation the appointed representative.

  • The Hirer will, during the period of the hiring, be responsible for the supervision of the premises, the fabric and the contents, the safety from damage however slight or change of any sort and the behaviour of all persons using the premises whatever their use including the proper supervision of car parking arrangements so as to avoid obstruction of the highway
  • The Hirer shall not use the premises for any purpose other than that described in the hiring agreement and shall not sub-hire the premises or allow the premises to be used for any unlawful purpose or in any unlawful way nor do anything or bring into the premises anything which may endanger the same or render invalid any insurance policies in respect thereof nor allow the consumption of any liquor thereon without written permission.
  • The Hirer shall be responsible for obtaining such licenses as may be needed whether for the sale or supply of intoxicating liquor otherwise and for observance of the same.
  • The Hirer shall ensure that nothing is done on or in relation to the premises in contravention of the law relating to gaming, betting or lotteries.
  • The Hirer shall comply with all conditions and regulations made in respect of the premises by the Fire Authority, Local Authority, Local Magistrates’ Court or otherwise particularly in connection with any event which includes public dancing or music or other public entertainment or stage plays.
  • The Hirer shall, if preparing, serving or selling food, observe all relevant food health and hygiene legislation and regulations.
  • The Hirer shall ensure that any electrical brought by him to the premises and used there shall be safe and in good working order, and used in a safe manner.
  • The Hirer shall indemnify the committee for the cost of repair of any damage done to any part of the property including the contents of the buildings which may occur during the period of the hiring as a result of the hiring.
  • If The Hirer wishes to cancel the booking before the date of the event and the committee is unable to conclude a replacement booking the question of the payment or repayment of the fee shall be at the discretion of the committee.
  • The Hirer shall ensure that the minimum noise is made on arrival and departure.
  • The Hirer shall ensure that no dogs, except guide dogs, are brought into the hall.
  • At The End of the hiring the Hirer shall be responsible for leaving the premises and surrounds in a clean and tidy condition, properly locked and secured unless directed otherwise and any contents temporarily removed from their usual positions properly replaced – otherwise the committee shall be at liberty to make an additional charge.
  • The Committee reserves the right to cancel this hiring in the event of the hall being required as a Polling Station for a Parliamentary or Local Government election or by-election, in which the hirer shall be entitled to a refund of any deposit already made.
  • In The Event of the hall or any part thereof being rendered unfit for the use for which it has been hired, the committee shall not be liable to the hirer for any resulting loss or damage whatsoever.
  • The Hirer shall ensure that any activities for children under 8 years of age comply with the provisions of The Children Act 19XX and that only fit and proper persons have access to the children.
  • The Hirer is required to make himself aware of the instructions for the actions to be taken in the event of fire, and to observe the precautions stipulated therein. These instructions are displayed in the hall and must be adhered to strictly.
  • The Hirer shall ensure that there will be a minimum of 2 competent attendants, for up to 100 people (3 for attendances of 100 up to the maximum capacity of the hall) on duty to assist people entering or leaving , none of whom shall be less than 18 years of age. All persons on duty shall be instructed in their essential responsibilities in the event of fire, the location and use of the fire fighting equipment available, how to call the fire brigade and the evacuation procedure. All exit doors must be kept free of obstructions at all times.
  • The Hirer shall observe the licensed capacity of the hall which is 150 for dancing, 170 seated and 120 for receptions.
  • The Hirer shall not undertake performances which involved danger to the public.
  • The Hirer shall not bring into or use highly inflammable substances in any part of the premises.
  • The Hirer shall not bring into or fix internal decorations of a combustible nature (e.g. polystyrene, cotton, wool etc.) without the consent of the committee. When this consent is given the decorations are to be tied to the special metal rings provided for that purpose. Adhesive tapes, drawing pins, nails, screws or adhesives of any kind are not to be used.
  • The Hirer shall not use or permit the use of any unauthorised heating appliance on the premises. Portable liquefied propane gas (LPG) heating appliances shall not be brought onto or used on the premises.
  • The Hirer shall inform the committee at least 14 days prior to the event if an extension of the licensed hours for music and dancing (7:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m.) is required. The committee will arrange for this on payment of the appropriate fee. If the event is a dance the committee ask that the police be informed at least 4 days before the event and that care be taken with admission after 10:30 p.m.
